German packaging machinery specialist Gerhard Schubert will be showcasing a number of its systems at Anuga FoodTec this month, including its lightline cartonpacker system targeting markets including confectionery and snacks manufacturing, writes Neill Barston.
Significantly, the business will also be offering an event debut for Schubert Additive Solutions’ new 3D printer developed in-house for high-quality printing of format and spare parts, known as the Partbox.
As the company noted, the theme of this year’s trade fair, being held in Cologne between 26-29 April, will be digitalisation, and the business will be playing its part on in unveiling its latest developments, in Hall 7.1 at Stand C071.
For its lightline demonstration, the machine will be set up to show how grating cheese into pouches is achieved, though it has a range of additional sector applications. An GS.Gate industrial gateway enables secure access to the machine and production data. “What this means is that we can carry out remote maintenance and use the data obtained to increase the machine’s performance,” explains Georg Koutsogiannis, Senior Sales Account Manager at Schubert.
“The more digital packaging machines become, the more data is generated during their operation,” Koutsogiannis adds. “With targeted digital services, this wealth of data is turned into hard cash for manufacturers and operators.”
At the trade fair, the Schubert team will be presenting its new digital CARE services, which can be used to optimise packaging processes whilst saving resource and costs. Schubert will also be providing information on the high-profile topic of sustainability, including switching to more eco-friendly packaging solutions.
Premiere: New 3D printer to be presented Schubert Additive Solutions will also be presenting a new development in Cologne. Using the Schubert subsidiary’s virtual web platform, manufacturers can produce plastic parts in their own production facilities using 3D printing.
Schubert Additive Solutions has developed a high-quality 3D printer for this purpose, which is connected to the platform via LTE and which ensures outstanding printing results. “The Partbox enables users to produce the parts they need directly on site,” explains Marcus Schindler, division manager of supply play management at the company.
