01 Apr 2019 · Reviews 74 CommentsIt is quite often that we bring vacuum robots here to Pplware, given their utility and increasingly intelligent technology.Whenever we do this, several requests for analysis of Xiaomi solutions appear in the comments. So, the time has come to let you know everything about the Mi Robot 2 vacuum cleaner.Roborock Technology is a company created in 2014. That same year, Xiaomi bet on it, now being a company in the Xiaomi chain like so many others we know. For example, we also have Huami or Mijia.Incidentally, Roborock was the company that created the first Mi Robot.Currently, Roborock has 3 models of vacuum robots listed on the site. The Xaiowa E2 and Xiaowa E3, two more affordable models, and the Roborock S5, the model under review. Now, this is where the name confusion arises. As with many other Xiaomi products, each store has a slightly different name. But the Roborock S5 is nothing more than version 2 of Mi Robot, which can also appear in some places like Robotic Vacuum Cleaner, Roborock S50 or Xiaomi Roborock Mi Robot 2, among others. The important thing when choosing is to take a good look at its appearance and design, you will immediately understand what it is.Speaking of the box, the Mi Robot 2 (as will be mentioned throughout the analysis) comes with a charging base, a plastic surface to attach to the base. This base essentially serves to protect the floor, especially if the water tank is being used. Also inside the box are two mops, a water tank, an extra filter and the instruction manual. The vacuum is robust, more robust than the latest Deebot I tested here.As dimensions it has 353 x 350 x 96.5 mm and weighs 3.5 kg.On top you have the laser sensors for mapping the area and the various control buttons. It also has the lid that gives access to the tank, the Wi-Fi indicator light and the reset button. In this area there is still an accessory to help with cleaning the vacuum cleaner. At the front it included a bumper with a charging base location sensor. On the side, in turn, there is a wall sensor and below the various anti-fall sensors. At the bottom there is also the main rotating brush, the side broom, the omnidirectional wheel and the main wheels capable of climbing up to two centimeters. It is a feature created with the intention of crossing small gaps and carpets.About this set of sensors we drew some conclusions. Therefore, looking at the positive ones, the first one has to do with the mapping that is done correctly, even in dark spaces. Then the side sensor really makes sure you don't hit walls or obstacles indiscriminately. Finally, do not fall from heights.Another of the conclusions, and now comparing both with Deebot and Roomba, two models that I have already compared here, it is the only one that vacuums dark carpets without problems…In the office I have a black carpet and the other two vacuum cleaners have always seen it as a barrier. When placing the vacuums on top of the carpet, both asked to clean the sensors. On the other hand, this one from Xiaomi Mi Robot 2 entered, vacuumed and left for another division, without problems.Only a problem arises in areas where there are reflections, not only from the mirror but also from sunlight hitting the ground. In these cases, the vacuum cleaner starts to behave unexpectedly, such as walking around, and it is not resolved by simply placing the vacuum cleaner elsewhere. The best thing to do in this case is to finish cleaning, delete the map and start a new vacuum, which can be done locally… just set it in the app.The aspiration is done efficiently with a vacuum cleaning system "Cyclone 3D".It is a system that thus provides a deeper cleaning, with a suction power of 2000 Pa.It is an adaptive suction, automatically, as long as it detects carpets or rugs.First travels an area all the way around, then vacuums in a zig-zag pattern. No dust accumulating in the corners, no getting stuck in obstacles… But this, of course, the house has to be prepared to receive the vacuum cleaner. The mop and water tank are optional and not recommended for carpets. The mop is placed in a small tank of water that slowly pours and which is, in turn, placed in the vacuum cleaner, without even having to remove it from the floor. This water tank has two filters, through which the water is being poured. They thus prevent the accumulation of impurities, to avoid blocking this passage. After the cleaning is complete and the dirt is picked up by the mop, there is no doubt about its importance. That way, two cloths come inside the box, so one can be used while the other is being washed.Autonomy is another important and very positive aspect. This robot allows you to vacuum an area of 150 to 200 m² with a battery cycle. If the cleaning is not completed, the Mi Robot 2 returns to its base, charges and starts its work again until it is finished. The old Mi Home has been renewed and now the app is called Xiaomi Home.Despite this change here, it is possible to control all devices in the Xiaomi ecosystem, including, of course, the Mi Robot 2.The application allows for remote control, even outside the house, as the vacuum cleaner is connected to the home's Wi-Fi network. In short, in addition to ordering vacuuming, stopping, returning to the base, it is possible to define localized vacuuming areas (1, 2 or 3 times), make appointments and consult information on the cleaning history, and it also allows activating other features. One of them, very useful, is the intelligent detection of rugs, increasing the suction power. It's something that really works perfectly.Another is the map recording mode which is still in beta, but which is already quite complete… however, it is noted that there is still work to be done. For example, you can define a virtual wall, but then you cannot delete it.Just deleting the map.Cleaning the vacuum cleaner is essential for its proper functioning: cleaning the rotating brush, emptying the garbage can, washing the mop, and keeping the sensors clean. All these are practices that must be done with some frequency, but all this is very simple.Mi Robot 2 is a competent vacuum cleaner, with the same quality and vacuuming efficiency as the brands we know best in Portugal. But it still offers other attributes that increase its quality, namely detection of carpets and adaptation of the vacuum and mop with integrated water tank.On the other hand, the application and mapping still need to be improved, compared to the Deebot app, although it is not a central issue for its use.The vacuum cleaner's behavior in the face of reflections also requires extra care when preparing the house for vacuuming. That is, it is important to cover mirrors next to the floor or remove the incidence of direct light coming from the windows. This vacuum cleaner can be purchased in Europe, at the Geekmall store, for €379, free of postage or customs, using the discount code PPLWARES50.This is a fair price and really competitive with the competition. In addition, being sold on the European market, it has a 2-year warranty.Pplware thanks Geekmall for providing the Roborock Mi Robot 2 for review. This article is over a year oldPropose a fix, make a suggestionAuthor: Maria Inês CoelhoAs for the problems with the black carpets, this vacuum suffers from exactly the same problem as all the others. It simply refuses to cross said carpets.I have 2 black rugs in the room and the robot refuses to lift it.As I live in an apartment without stairs, simply covering the cliff sensors can overcome the problem. For those who have stairs, it is necessary to be careful with this technique. In Thingiverse you also find covers for the sensors that help with the issue and you don't need to replace them as with the tape.I've had an S50 for a few months now, it's just brutal and had slight problems climbing high (black) rugs but it's been fixed for months….If you do the recommended maintenance it works really well.I hope they put the mapping of zones (clean pe kitchen) as in T6.. I bought it for 400€ already with extras on geekbuying.Hello, I bought one but I'm having a lot of difficulty to pair with my wi fi network, can you help me!?Just follow the instructions in the Xiaomi Home app.The vacuum cleaner's instruction manual also has the entire procedure described. The configuration logic is as follows: – the vacuum cleaner is switched on in configuration mode – the smartphone detects the vacuum cleaner and tries to connect directly to it, to the vacuum cleaner’s Wi-Fi point (it is possible that the application cannot change the smartphone network automatically, checks if the smartphone has really connected to the vacuum cleaner’s network) – at this point, the list of Wi-Fi networks that the vacuum cleaner detects appears, we only have to choose the desired network (5GHz networks may not work) and indicate the password – confirm and wait for the vacuum cleaner to connect to the networkhow did you solve with the black carpets?ThanksGood morning João, I bought this week a Roborock 2 and I have 2 dark brown carpets with high pile in the living room and it doesn't go up.I read your post about the “trick” of covering the sensors with adhesive tape (dark) and I placed the robot on top of the carpet and it gives an error….Any suggestions?Another question I have is if it is possible to command the cleaning for just one room so that it doesn't always walk around the whole house….Thanks.Good afternoon.Regarding the carpets, I can't help you as I don't have that problem.Regarding cleaning only one division – You have two options: 1- click on the bottom, in the options, on the right side 'Zone cleanup' and a rectangle will appear at the top and you can drag it to the division you want to clean. For more k one just click again.2- edit the map (on top of the house map, bottom right) and then down, in the options, in the center, click ' Invisible wall' and a red line will appear ka you can move and make blocks to prevent it to pass akela 'invisible wall'.For more k one just click again.I've always created and deleted virtual walls without any problem, but the black rug doesn't go up…How can you create virtual walls?I can't find this option in the appI have been using this vacuum cleaner for several months. The only feature I miss is the identification of the areas of the house (living room, kitchen, etc).It made it easier when I wanted to vacuum only a certain area (instead of manually drawing the area to be cleaned on the map).If you know how to do this, let me know 🙂Better than roomba and half the price!Does it work in the app having selected the china server?I already have several devices in the account that have to be with this server and at times I tested version 1 of this vacuum cleaner and I couldn't add it with the china server, it had to be the European one.I'd like to know the same. This was tested on an account with region “China”.It appears listed as “Roborock S5”.Is this store reliable to make a purchase of this amount? if it is necessary to use warranty does anyone have feedback on this store and how to proceed with the warranty? thanksI would like to know the same….I paid to see.I ordered one of these plus a tvbox, I'll tell you later.I received the products, everything I expected, the robot is actually very good, I just didn't like the mop function, the water tank is small, it didn't fill half the house and it doesn't warn you when the water runs out and to use it. there needs to be someone at home and about the store I didn't just like how it was sent, it came straight in the product box, without an extra box on the outside to protect, but apparently everything arrived still perfectWhat site did you order it from?I also never saw the option to add virtual walls… Can you explain where this option is?I've looked everywhere. It was really handy because I have rugs and without the virtual wall the use of the mop is almost impossible (I would always have to design several zone cleanups)In the video I show, but basically you will have to go to Vacuum Settings, activate Map saving mode (Beta). Then return to the main panel and under the settings icon (upper right corner), a new icon appears, for creating virtual walls.Oh, I understand!I always thought that this function was for the app not to show the map that the robot generated, to save data.I misunderstood its function. Thanks! How do I set cleanup areas?bedroom, living room, kitchen…ect.Excellent review!!Does geekmall work well with shipments to the Azores ??Shipping is done from Italy, so no problems.I hope pplware knows who is referring, I made the purchase 4 days ago and so far without any status update.Leonardo, we have full confidence, but naturally we have no control over any delays. If you don't have news in 1 to 2 days, contact support or say something, and I can try to help.I just got an update saying the purchase has just been shipped.Thanks.https://pplware.sapo.pt/analises-2/aspirador-xiaomi-roborock-mi-robot-2/Hi, is this the same device as this review?https://pplware.sapo.pt/gadgets/mi-robot-vacuum-cleaner-2-novo-aspirador-inteligente-xiaomi/Good morning, After seeing your review I decided to order through Geekmall.I ordered on the 07/05th the 08/05th it is already given as shipped. When it arrives I will publish my feedback.Does anyone know until what day the LINK promotion will be in effect?Currently, the current price is cheaper than at the time of publication of the article. It's 375€ with free shipping.Thanks.I already ordered.Stayed for 370 with a discount voucherOrdered on the 16th, received today from the same store.I haven't opened it yet but everything looks flawless.I recommend.Stayed for 370 euroshttps://www.geekmall.eu Xiaomi Roborock Mi Robot 2 – White – SKU : 256393ITSI 385.00 with voucher PPLWARES50 Final price = 385.00Did the voucher have a time limit? The voucher offered the cost of shipping, I think it was €8.Now shipping is free, no discount is applied, although the product has gone up in price by €6.Hey there, I'm thinking of getting one of these, what's the best place to do it?Thanks!Gearbest, I bought it, it was fast and without problems.First Roborock and maybe the last.I have S5 and wanted to ensure regular cleaning at home by programming days and zones. To my surprise, neither the APP nor the Robot saves the map of the house, so I can't program a cleaning by zone, or even ask to clean a certain area without mapping +100 m2 again!!!.I bought this equipment because I thought (badly) that with enough functionality and large battery capacity I would be able to have a good use.I was wrong.I would have preferred to have opted for a more “modest” equipment that really did what was expected. After all, the battery only serves to repeat a mapping of the house that is already known, and the features so praised here are just showoff.Worse is to see that it is just a matter of development, so it is not understood that they are continually launching “new” models masked only by the introduction of functions that should already be implemented in previous models.A shame.I will be happy and happy to share my experience.Regarding my S5… whoever wants it will be on sale at OLX in the next few days, and then apply the money where it is deserved.(for example on a 360)That's not supposed to happen. It will be an application bug.Did you use it on the Mi Home app?If yes, uninstall and reinstall. Can I set more than 1 map? What is the response to animal fur?I have a dog and I always have a vacuum cleaner. It is excellent! But it requires more periodic cleaning of the reservoir, filter, wheels, etc.The normal maintenance of this equipment, but done more frequently. But it's a day and night difference in terms of hair spread.Hi!Congratulations on the analysis! It came to answer some of the answers I had about this vacuum cleaner that I intend to purchase. When you say that it is necessary to prepare the house for vacuuming, what does this preparation consist of?Well, I noticed that in the video there are the chairs, the vases, the rugs… If you can clarify me, I would appreciate it.Greetings and thanks again and congratulations for the work.Preparation consists of not leaving cables on the floor, slippers, socks, small rugs and other small accessories that could prevent the robot from working properly.I think that's it...Eunice, thanks for the comment. In the case of the space shown in the video, the chair area is little used, so there is no need to clean it with each vacuum.Whenever there is this need, the chairs are moved away as is already done with the “normal” vacuum.Furthermore, in these chairs there is no danger of the vacuum cleaner getting stuck.Preparing the house essentially consists of removing shoes from the floor, fixing wires that could prevent the vacuum cleaner from passing, moving a vase or furniture, removing lighter rugs… simple things.Good afternoon, thank you for the review it is quite complete.I'm undecided between this version and the previous one because this one uses water and I'm afraid it will ruin the floating floor.Do you know if this could be the case or the water that the robot uses is minimal? Thanks.João, the water that the robot uses is minimal.Less than the regular mop. However, you can choose to remove the water tank and just vacuum, you have both options. Can you use disinfectant instead of water?Greetings to all!Can anyone tell me how to use the settings part of: -House management;-Room management? In house management it appears: House name, Total number of device is room management, it is precisely in this part that I have doubts, in this option create the following rooms: -Entrance;-Living room;-Kitchen;-Hall;-Guest room;If I click on one of these rooms, the options appear: -Name of the room;– This is the information of 0 added devices -Casa – Router (If I click on the Router option just below the option where the name of the Robot vaccum [Guest Room] appears in front of the information Casa de NogucheI would like to know if this option has the function or not of only defining where the loading base will be installed, or if it serves anything else, thank you very much!Good morning, How does the warranty work?If something happens to the equipment during the 2 years, does Xiaomi in Portugal guarantee or does the equipment have to be sent to GeekMall? Thanks! The guarantee must always be claimed at the store where it was purchased, which will have to provide the necessary assistance. You can change the "central" because I live in a house with two floors. Can I change the “central”?does the vacuum cleaner keep all the divisions?I bought this robot recently, but the instruction book doesn't come in Portuguese. Can you tell me if there is a site with the instructions translated into Portuguese.ThanksI think about purchasing this model, but I have 2 floors at home!Do you know if he makes 2 maps?Type 1st floor (living room and kitchen) and 2nd floor (bedrooms)?I didn't want to always be mapping the rooms whenever I change floors, for that I aspire to the conventional method!I'm undecided between this vacuum cleaner and one of the romba 960,965 or 966. Just the fact that it has a mop, the positive side I think, and the fact that I don't recognize the black carpets, the negative side, is leaving me in doubt.Which do you advise?ThanksGood afternoon, I bought the S6, I have doubts about the mops, when to use the disposable and washable ones? When to vacuum and wash at the same time which program to use?Can I have the reservoir placed and she doesn't use water? Can I save more than 1 map?Thank you in advance for anyone who can help me, since the robot came without instructions in Portuguese despite being purchased at Rádio PopularGood afternoon, I've been looking for information about the s5 / s6.What does the mapping consist of?I've read several articles but I still can't understand exactly how it works.Does the robot read the space and then give the order to clean a certain area? The big difference I read between s5 and s6 is that on s6 this mapping is saved while on s5 each time you want to clean it has to be the mapping, is that it?Good afternoon, I've been looking for information about the s5 / s6.What does the mapping consist of?I've read several articles but I still can't understand exactly how it works.Does the robot read the space and then give the order to clean a certain area? The big difference I read between s5 and s6 is that on s6 this mapping is saved while on s5 each time you want to clean it has to be the mapping, is that it?Good morning, Can anyone help me with the connection process between Robot and Wifi.I've read N things, I've tried almost everything and I can't connect. The radar appears with the robot, I try to connect through wifi and in the connection process invariably gives me an error when connecting. Can anyone help me?In principle, it will be the app that cannot manage the smartphone's Wi-Fi connection. The initial setup mechanics are as follows: – the smartphone detects that the robot is on the network – we say which Wi-Fi network + password the robot must connect to – the smartphone connects directly to the robot via Wi-Fi to hand you the network data (this is where it must be failing) and user account credentials – the robot disconnects from the smartphone and tries to connect to the Wi-Fi network;as soon as it succeeds, it connects to the user account and then it appears as connected in the app. What you should do is, at the moment when the robot is supposedly configuring itself, go to the Wi-Fi connections, look for the robot and manually connect to it.I may have misunderstood, but what I should do is connect the Robo to the wifi network manually (through the router?)Not.Reread the points I wrote. We need to “transmit” to the robot the credentials of the Wi-Fi network and the Mi Home account it should connect to.To do this, we have to manually connect to the robot's Wi-Fi network (network available with its name) at the right time, which is exactly after putting these credentials in the configuration in the app, because there are smartphones where the Mi Home application cannot do automatically (some Huawei examples of this). Can you help me?I have roborock v2, a month ago, I've cleaned the sensors and in the application it's already at 70/.I don't know what to do anymore!Sorry, I wish I could help you… But I don't understand the problem.Hi Nuria, I'm still very new to this but, as it seems to me, in 'Maintenance', where it tells you the percentages, it's to replace (the parts) and clean the sensors when it's at 100% or close. When replacing or cleaning (in this case of the sensors) you must click on the 'Clean sensors' button so that it goes to 0%.Hope this helpsGood Morning. Thanks in advance for the excellent analysis.I've had mine for 4 days and I'm still having trouble with the app.I've already mapped it, I know how to place the virtual walls but I don't know how to program the cleanings. How can I program the cleaning of three rooms on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and the other three on Wednesdays and Fridays (for example)?I know you don't know the name of the room but I think creating the virtual walls on the doors of rooms that you don't want to clean, you can perfectly clean what you want - I just don't know how to program to work on certain days or create 2 types of different cleanings (three divisions on some days and the other three on other days).Another question: do you just vacuum or clean? That is, after vacuuming, I put the mop and program to clean? That's it?ThanksI bought PhoneMagic through Fnac (online site), bought it on a Thursday and received it on Monday – I only waited 3 business days!Good afternoon. It's true Mr Marlene Bento, I've already bought three different things from this seller also through Fnac and it didn't take 5 working days to arrive.I recommend 100%Your email address will not be published. You may use these HTML tags and attributes:
